Managing the email that comes with Cpanel in your WordPress hosting account

This blog post will tell you all about managing your email from the CPanel.

What is CPanel?

CPanel is short for Control Panel. It is how your website hosting is controlled and administered. Not all hosting accounts are run on CPanel and not all CPanels look the same. Cpanel gives you the ability to create websites, manage SSL certificates, manage your email and a whole lot more. This blog post will just explain email management.


Accessing CPanel

How you access your CPanel depends on your hosting provider. Usually there are two ways.

  1. Log into your hosting account and look for the words CPanel. If you cannot find them then contact your hosting provider or search your providers website for details on how to access it.
  2. Go to  and type in your CPanel username and password.

Email management in CPanel

If your hosting package allows, you can create email address accounts from your CPanel account. You can allocate memory to the email account and reset the password if you need to. The range of email features varies depending on your hosting account. Here are two types of CPanel email

You can find your email management features easily, once you have accessed your CPanel scroll down until you see ‘Mail’ or ‘Email’. It may look something like the images below.

Setting up an email address

It doesn’t really matter what your CPanel looks like the instructions are very similar.

  1. Click on ‘Email Accounts’
  2. IF you do not see a place to add a new email address, click ‘Create’ or ‘Add New’.
  3. Enter a strong password.
  4. Set the mailbox size. This size is part of your overall hosting account size. You will need to clear out your email regularly to avoid going over your space limit.
  5. Your email is now set up.


Changing your password

You might forget your password or feel the need to update it from time time, when this happens do the following.

  1. Click on ‘Email Accounts’
  2. Find the email address you wish to change.
  3. Click on ‘Manage’ or ‘Password’ for that email address.
  4. Update the password.
  5. Save your password by clicking ‘Save password’ or ‘Update email settings’


Checking and Changing the email box size quota

  1. Click on ‘Email Accounts’
  2. Find the email address you wish to check or update.
  3. You may see the amount of space being used next to the email address, if not click on ‘Manage’ then look for ‘Storage’.
  4.  If you are close to the limit enter the new quota where it says ‘Allocated storage space’  or ‘Change Quota’.
  5. Save your new settings by clicking ‘Save quota’ or ‘Update email settings’

Deleting an email account

  1. Click on ‘Email Accounts’
  2. Find the email address you wish to delete.
  3. Click on ‘Manage’ or ‘Delete’ for that email address.
  4. Click on ‘Delete account’, be sure that this is the action you wish to take.



You should now be able to add, update and remove an email address from within CPanel. If you are having problems please let me know and I will help you out.
