A wireframe is sketch of a web page layout to understand what elements a web page will have when it is finished.
The wireframe can also be called a template or mockup.
A wireframe has no design features, it is mainly black and white.
Here is an example of a wireframe.
When designing a website, wireframes are created first.
They are mostly drawn on a computer and printed out for you to check.
My web design process is slightly different to the traditional method.
I build ‘live’ wireframes. That means they exist as a web page, not just on paper.
This really speeds up the web site creation process because I don’t need to design the wireframe on a computer first then build the web page. The design and build is done at the same time.
When you are happy with the layout, you then add the colours, fonts, images and text.
What happens on my ‘Build a simple WordPress website’ workshop
When you come along to my ‘Build a simple WordPress website’ workshop you will learn how to quickly build a wireframe.
I have a large library of wireframe blocks that you insert into a blank page.
You can modify these blocks until you get the look you after.
You can build your wireframe in a matter of minutes.
Once you are happy with your wireframe, you can then style it, add your images and add your text.
My wireframe block library
My library includes the following blocks (and more).
- Hero headers – the top part of your home page.
- Content – I have many blocks so you can style your content in many ways.
- Services / features.
- Contact forms.
- Opt-in forms.
The blocks are my ‘secret sauce’ for building websites in record time.
When you come along to my workshop you get access to this library.
Bespoke and ready made wireframes
Depending on the workshop package you choose, you can build your own wireframes or I can build a bespoke wireframe for you.
If you don’t want to build your own wireframes and you don’t want a bespoke wireframe (for example if you really don’t know how you want your web page laid out) you can use my ready made wireframes. All you need to do with those is add your content and styling.
